Job Description
Are you a highly energetic individual who thrives in a fast-paced urban environment? Do you enjoy being active and on the move? DHL Express is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Courier Runners to join our dynamic team in Newcastle upon Tyne’s Central Business District (CBD). In this vital role, you will be responsible for the timely and efficient pickup and delivery of packages and documents within a designated urban area. This position requires excellent navigation skills, a strong commitment to customer service, and the ability to work independently while representing the world’s leading logistics provider.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute timely and secure pickup and delivery of various packages and documents within the Newcastle upon Tyne CBD.
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups using handheld scanners and electronic devices.
- Provide exceptional customer service, interacting professionally and courteously with clients.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of assigned equipment.
- Assist with loading and unloading packages as required.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including those related to package handling and vehicle operation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and team members regarding delivery status and any issues encountered.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Driving License with a clean record.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina for extensive walking, lifting, and carrying.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a delivery route efficiently.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Familiarity with the Newcastle upon Tyne area, especially the CBD.
- Ability to lift and carry packages up to 30 kg.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a courier, delivery, or logistics role.
- Experience using handheld scanning devices and GPS navigation systems.
- Knowledge of local traffic patterns and alternative routes.
- GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
