Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled MWD/LWD Technician with a strong focus on electronics and data acquisition to join our team in Yonkers, NY. In this role, you will be responsible for the assembly, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Measurement While Drilling (MWD) and Logging While Drilling (LWD) tools and systems. Your expertise in electronic systems, data logging, and sensor calibration will be crucial in ensuring the reliability and accuracy of our downhole equipment, directly contributing to successful drilling operations and geological data collection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, disassemble, and perform functional tests on MWD/LWD tools and related surface equipment.
  • Execute preventive maintenance programs for MWD/LWD electronic components and sensors.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electronic and data acquisition system issues, both in the workshop and in the field.
  • Calibrate MWD/LWD sensors to ensure accuracy and reliability of collected data.
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment service, repairs, and data integrity checks.
  • Assist in the preparation and dispatch of tools for field operations, ensuring all equipment is in optimal working condition.
  • Provide technical support to field crews regarding tool operation and data acquisition challenges.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Manage inventory of electronic spare parts and components.

Required Skills

  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent technical certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with MWD/LWD tools or similar downhole drilling technology.
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics, microcontrollers, and sensor technologies.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electronic circuits using schematics and test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes).
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and software for logging and analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency with standard office software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with Halliburton MWD/LWD systems.
  • Certifications in electronics repair or instrumentation.
  • Experience with C++ or Python for scripting and data manipulation.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas drilling operations and terminology.
  • Strong communication skills for effective team collaboration and technical reporting.
