Job Description
As a Cable Sorter at our state-of-the-art telecom warehouse in Nepean, you will play a crucial role in the efficient management of our vast inventory of telecommunications cables and equipment. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals who are organized, detail-oriented, and looking for a steady, weekly-paid opportunity to contribute to a leading company in the telecom industry. You will be responsible for accurately sorting, organizing, and preparing various types of cables for storage, distribution, and recycling, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and visually inspect incoming cable shipments.
- Accurately sort and categorize different types of telecommunications cables (e.g., fiber optic, copper, coaxial) based on specifications, length, and condition.
- Coil, measure, and label cables correctly for inventory tracking and storage.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment such as hand trucks and pallet jacks (training provided if needed).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist with inventory counts and record-keeping.
- Prepare sorted cables for outbound shipments or recycling processes.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of inventory procedures (or willingness to learn).
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with telecommunications equipment or cable types.
- Basic computer skills for data entry.
- Forklift certification (an asset, but not required).
