Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Maritime Dock Worker with a strong focus on Port Logistics to join our team in Costa Mesa. In this vital role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks essential to the efficient movement and management of cargo within our port operations. This includes loading and unloading vessels, operating various equipment, securing cargo, and adhering to strict safety protocols. This position requires commitment to teamwork, a strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced marine environment. While previous experience is a plus, we welcome motivated individuals eager to learn and grow within the maritime industry, offering comprehensive training.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload cargo from vessels, trucks, and railcars using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Operate various types of heavy machinery and equipment, including forklifts, cranes, and other specialized port equipment (with training).
- Secure cargo for transport, ensuring proper lashing and stowing procedures are followed.
- Perform general labor tasks, including cleaning, maintenance, and material handling.
- Inspect equipment and work areas for safety hazards and report any issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other port personnel.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Monitor cargo documentation and assist with inventory management as needed.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic understanding of logistics and supply chain principles (preferred but not required for entry-level).
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a maritime, warehouse, or industrial environment.
- Experience operating heavy machinery or specialized equipment (e.g., forklifts, reach stackers).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Familiarity with port operations and cargo handling procedures.
