Job Description

Join our vibrant team in Plymouth as a Childcare Assistant and make a real difference in the lives of young children! We’re looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and dedicated individual to help create a fun, safe, and stimulating environment for children aged 0-5. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, perfect for someone passionate about early childhood development who thrives in a playful and supportive setting. No prior experience? No problem! We value attitude and a willingness to learn, and provide comprehensive training to ensure you succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing engaging activities and educational games suitable for children's age and developmental stage.
  • Supervise children during playtime, meal times, and rest periods, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Help maintain a clean, organised, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support children's personal care routines, including feeding, changing, and comforting.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress, daily activities, and any relevant observations.
  • Work collaboratively with the nursery team to uphold Busy Bees' high standards of childcare and education.
  • Observe and record children's development, contributing to their learning journeys.
  • Adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the welfare of every child.

  • Basic understanding of health and safety guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare, Early Years Education, or a related field (or working towards one).
  • Previous experience (paid or voluntary) in a childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Current Paediatric First Aid qualification.
  • Safeguarding children training.
