Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Speech Synthesis Evaluator to join our innovative AI research and development team. In this role, you will be crucial in refining the quality and naturalness of our synthesized speech. You will meticulously listen to AI-generated speech, identify subtle imperfections, and provide precise, actionable feedback to our engineers. This position requires exceptional auditory perception, an acute ear for linguistic nuances, and the ability to consistently apply complex evaluation criteria. Your contributions will directly enhance user experience and advance the state of the art in speech technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-depth quality assessment of synthesized speech generated by advanced AI models.
- Identify and categorize a wide range of audio artifacts, pronunciation errors, intonation inconsistencies, and naturalness deficiencies.
- Provide clear, concise, and structured feedback to AI engineers and linguists, detailing specific issues and suggested improvements.
- Adhere strictly to established evaluation guidelines and protocols to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, researchers, and linguists, to iterate on model improvements.
- Contribute to the refinement of evaluation methodologies and tools.
- Maintain high levels of focus and concentration for extended periods of audio analysis.
Required Skills
- Exceptional auditory perception and a 'golden ear' for detail.
- Demonstrable attention to linguistic nuances, phonetics, and prosody.
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, pronunciation, and natural speech patterns.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes of speech imperfections.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and consistently apply detailed evaluation criteria.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications and comfortable with web-based tools.
- High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background or academic experience in linguistics, phonetics, music, or a related field.
- Previous experience in audio quality assurance, transcription, or content moderation.
- Familiarity with speech synthesis technology or digital signal processing concepts.
- Experience working with large datasets or annotation tasks.
- Multilingual abilities (e.g., understanding of another language's phonetics) are a plus.
