Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Music Curriculum Developer to join our Fender Play team. In this fully remote role, you will be instrumental in shaping the educational experience for thousands of aspiring musicians worldwide. You will design, develop, and refine engaging and effective music lessons across various instruments and genres, ensuring they align with pedagogical best practices and leverage the interactive capabilities of our platform. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a deep understanding of music theory, practical musicianship, and a flair for instructional design in a digital environment. Your work will directly impact our mission to provide accessible, high-quality music education.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop comprehensive, engaging, and pedagogically sound music curricula for various instruments (e.g., guitar, bass, ukulele, piano) and skill levels for the Fender Play platform.
- Create detailed lesson plans, exercises, backing tracks, and interactive components that facilitate effective learning.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, content creators, videographers, and engineers to bring curriculum concepts to life.
- Conduct research on music pedagogy, learning science, and competitor offerings to inform curriculum design and innovation.
- Review and provide feedback on existing lessons, identifying areas for improvement and updating content as needed.
- Ensure all curriculum materials adhere to Fender Play's brand guidelines, educational standards, and technical specifications.
- Utilize data and user feedback to iterate on and improve curriculum effectiveness and learner engagement.
- Stay current with trends in music education, instructional technology, and popular music culture.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in music education, curriculum development, or instructional design.
- Expertise in music theory, harmony, rhythm, and practical musicianship.
- Proficiency in at least one primary instrument (guitar, bass, piano, ukulele) and familiarity with others.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and effective pedagogical strategies for online environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex musical concepts clearly.
- Proficiency with music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale) and digital audio workstations (DAW).
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Music Education, Music Theory, Instructional Design, or a related field.
- Experience with online learning platforms and content management systems.
- Prior experience teaching music in an online or blended learning setting.
- Familiarity with UX/UI principles in educational technology.
- Proficiency in multiple musical instruments or genres.
