Job Description
Are you a 14-year-old with a big heart for dogs and a desire to start your first job in a fun, active environment? Petco in Lakewood, Colorado, is looking for an enthusiastic and responsible Dog Daycare Aide to join our team! This entry-level position is perfect for someone who loves being around animals and wants to learn about professional pet care. You’ll help ensure our furry friends have a safe, clean, and engaging experience in our daycare facility. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable work experience, develop strong interpersonal skills, and spend your days surrounded by adorable dogs!
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with supervising dogs in play areas to ensure a safe and positive environment.
- Monitor dog behavior and intervene appropriately to prevent conflicts.
- Clean and sanitize dog enclosures, play areas, and feeding stations regularly.
- Provide fresh water and assist with feeding dogs as directed.
- Engage with dogs through play, petting, and positive reinforcement.
- Report any signs of illness, injury, or unusual behavior to senior staff immediately.
- Assist with basic grooming tasks like brushing or wiping paws.
- Help maintain cleanliness of the overall facility.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with team members and pet parents (under supervision).
Required Skills
- Genuine love and passion for dogs and animals.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
- Comfortable working in an active and sometimes noisy environment.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Must be 14 years old or older.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience caring for pets (family pets, volunteering, etc.).
- Basic understanding of dog behavior.
- Prior experience in a customer service or team-oriented environment (e.g., school clubs).
