Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse with a strong technical focus to join our dynamic team in New Port Richey, FL. This role requires an individual who is proficient in assisting with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, providing expert patient care before, during, and after procedures. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. This position includes on-call responsibilities, ensuring critical care is available when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures, including vital sign assessment, IV insertion, and patient education.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, and monitoring.
- Operate and troubleshoot cath lab equipment, including hemodynamic monitoring systems, IVUS, FFR, and other specialized devices.
- Administer medications safely and effectively, including conscious sedation, according to physician orders and hospital policy.
- Monitor patients' hemodynamic status, ECG, and vital signs throughout procedures and during recovery.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and comprehensively in the electronic health record.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, including cardiac arrest, arrhythmias, and other complications.
- Provide post-procedure care and education to patients and their families.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide emergent cardiac services.
- Ensure a sterile environment and adherence to infection control protocols.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Critical Care unit.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation.
- Strong technical aptitude and experience with hemodynamic monitoring systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certification in Cardiac Vascular Nursing (CVN) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN).
- Experience with scrubbing and circulating roles in a Cath Lab.
- Familiarity with various interventional cardiology devices and techniques.
