Job Description

The Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Business Intern to join our Local Networking team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community engagement, event coordination, and business development within a leading non-profit organization. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our initiatives to connect businesses, foster partnerships, and drive local economic growth. This role is perfect for an individual passionate about business, community building, and eager to learn the intricacies of local economic development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of local networking events, workshops, and seminars.
  • Support membership outreach and engagement activities, helping to recruit new members and retain existing ones.
  • Conduct research on local businesses, industry trends, and potential partnership opportunities.
  • Prepare marketing materials and communications for events and programs, including social media content and email newsletters.
  • Provide administrative support to the Local Networking team, including data entry, scheduling, and correspondence.
  • Attend networking events and represent the Chamber, engaging with members and prospective members.
  • Contribute to the development of new initiatives aimed at strengthening the local business ecosystem.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French (bilingualism is a strong asset in Montreal).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A genuine interest in business development, community engagement, and local economics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer or internship experience in a professional office setting or event coordination.
  • Familiarity with CRM software or database management.
  • Experience with social media management tools.
  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express).
