Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Climate Data Annotator to join our scientific research support team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing our understanding of climate patterns and environmental impacts by meticulously reviewing, categorizing, and annotating large datasets related to climate science. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of scientific data, and the ability to work effectively within a research-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately annotate and categorize climate-related datasets, including satellite imagery, sensor readings, and model outputs.
- Perform quality control checks on annotated data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with climate scientists and researchers to understand data requirements and annotation guidelines.
- Identify and report data discrepancies or anomalies for further investigation.
- Maintain detailed records of annotation progress and data versioning.
- Contribute to the refinement of annotation protocols and tools.
- Assist in the preparation of data for analysis and visualization.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing project discussions.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in data entry and data management.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic understanding of climate science concepts and terminology.
- Familiarity with spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Meteorology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Experience with GIS software or other geospatial data tools.
- Prior experience in data annotation, quality control, or scientific research support.
- Familiarity with programming languages for data manipulation (e.g., Python, R).
