Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Correctional Facility Nurse to join our dedicated team in a secure correctional environment in Savannah, Georgia. This vital role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to an adult patient population within a structured and secure setting. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans, ensuring adherence to all medical protocols, and maintaining accurate health records. This position demands strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Due to the unique nature of the correctional setting, a commitment to safety, security, and professional conduct is paramount. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and develop individualized care plans for patients within the correctional facility.
  • Administer medications, perform treatments, and provide emergency care as needed, strictly adhering to facility policies and medical protocols.
  • Document all patient care, observations, and interventions accurately and thoroughly in electronic health records.
  • Collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
  • Educate patients on health conditions, medication adherence, and preventive care.
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies, including initial assessment, intervention, and coordination of higher-level care.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment by adhering to all facility security procedures and guidelines.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and care strategies.
  • Manage and maintain medical supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper function.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies, regarding patient care and confidentiality.

Required Skills

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a secure and fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of professional nursing ethics and standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in correctional healthcare, emergency medicine, or psychiatric nursing.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations.
  • Familiarity with chronic disease management protocols.
