Job Description
We are seeking an innovative and passionate Cosmetic Chemist to join our dynamic Skincare & Beauty R&D team in Schaumburg, IL. In this role, you will be instrumental in the ideation, formulation, and development of cutting-edge skincare and beauty products for our trendy and market-leading brands. You will leverage your scientific expertise to create high-performance, safe, and consumer-loved formulations, from concept to commercialization. Key Responsibilities
- Formulate, develop, and optimize new and existing skincare and beauty products, ensuring alignment with brand vision and performance targets.
- Conduct comprehensive stability testing, compatibility studies, and performance evaluations on raw materials and finished products.
- Perform extensive research on novel ingredients, technologies, and market trends to drive innovation in product development.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, regulatory, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to timelines and budgets.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, maintain accurate records, and ensure all formulations comply with global regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, EU, ASEAN).
- Scale up laboratory formulations to pilot and production batches, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in cosmetic formulation and product development, specifically in skincare or beauty.
- Strong understanding of cosmetic raw materials, their functions, and interactions.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment relevant to cosmetic R&D.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory requirements for cosmetic products.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant scientific field.
- Experience with advanced analytical instrumentation (e.g., rheometers, particle size analyzers).
- Demonstrated ability to translate consumer insights and market trends into innovative product concepts.
- Familiarity with sustainable and naturally derived ingredients and their application in cosmetic formulations.
- Project management experience within an R&D setting.
