Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized, friendly, and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our professional practice in New Port Richey. This pivotal role is the first point of contact for our patients, requiring excellent interpersonal skills, a compassionate demeanor, and the ability to manage a busy front desk efficiently. You will be instrumental in ensuring a smooth patient flow, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to a positive patient experience from appointment scheduling to billing inquiries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients in a warm and professional manner upon their arrival.
  • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments, managing the recall system effectively to ensure full practice schedules.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, address patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate personnel with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Verify patient insurance information, explain benefits, and assist with billing and payment processing, including co-pays and outstanding balances.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records with strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and practice policies.
  • Prepare and process new patient paperwork, ensuring all necessary forms are completed accurately.
  • Manage the reception area, ensuring it remains tidy, organized, and inviting for all patients and visitors.
  • Coordinate closely with dental assistants, hygienists, and dentists to optimize patient flow and minimize wait times.
  • Handle general administrative tasks, including filing, scanning documents, and managing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Facilitate communication between patients and clinical staff to ensure seamless care.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a dental or medical office setting.
  • Proficiency with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, EagleSoft, Open Dental).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
  • Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and proven multitasking capabilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work effectively and remain calm in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Basic knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or certification in dental assisting or office administration.
  • Experience with insurance claim submission and understanding of Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) to better serve our diverse patient community.
  • CPR certification.
