Job Description
Join AECOM as a Desalination & Water Purification Intern and gain invaluable hands-on experience in the cutting-edge field of water treatment technologies. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to projects focused on sustainable water solutions, including advanced desalination and purification processes. You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists, learning about system design, process optimization, and regulatory compliance for municipal and industrial water projects. This role is ideal for students passionate about environmental sustainability and engineering challenges related to water scarcity.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers in the research, design, and analysis of desalination and water purification systems.
- Conduct literature reviews and data analysis to support ongoing project development and feasibility studies.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation under supervision.
- Participate in site visits (if applicable and safe) to observe existing water treatment facilities and processes.
- Support the development of process flow diagrams and equipment specifications.
- Contribute to problem-solving and innovation in water treatment challenges.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety protocols and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Strong academic record.
- Basic understanding of water chemistry and treatment principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) or process simulation tools.
- Previous experience with research projects related to water treatment or environmental science.
- Knowledge of various desalination technologies (e.g., Reverse Osmosis, Multi-Stage Flash, etc.).
- Experience with data collection and statistical analysis.
