Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Experienced Welder with expertise in both TIG and MIG welding processes to join our dynamic team in Manchester. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG and MIG welding on various materials, including stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum, to precise specifications.
  • Interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to determine appropriate welding techniques and procedures.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment and machinery, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Inspect finished welds for quality, integrity, and adherence to industry standards using various inspection methods (e.g., visual inspection, dye penetrant).
  • Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, and cutting to ensure proper fit-up.
  • Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to optimize welding processes and resolve technical challenges.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on welding equipment and report any malfunctions or repair needs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the fabrication department.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in TIG (GTAW) welding, particularly on thin gauge materials and complex joints.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MIG (GMAW) welding, including pulsed MIG techniques.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a professional welder in a manufacturing or heavy industry setting.
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Strong understanding of various welding procedures, materials, and their applications.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards in a welding environment.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recognized welding certifications (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO 9606) for TIG and MIG processes.
  • Experience with robotic or automated welding systems.
  • Formal vocational training or an apprenticeship in welding and fabrication.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Experience working in the energy, power generation, or heavy engineering sectors.
