Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic with a strong focus on diesel engines to join our team in Grand Prairie, TX. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of our diverse fleet of heavy-duty diesel equipment, including trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other material handling machinery. We provide all necessary tools, fostering a supportive environment where your expertise is valued and professional growth is encouraged. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team to ensure our operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections on heavy-duty diesel trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other company equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software.
  • Execute repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electrical systems, and other components.
  • Conduct thorough safety checks and ensure all equipment meets regulatory standards.
  • Document all maintenance and repair work accurately and timely.
  • Order and manage parts inventory necessary for repairs.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding equipment status and repair progress.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, diagnostics, and repair.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and components in heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASE certification in Heavy Truck (e.g., Diesel Engines, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems).
  • Technical degree or certification in diesel technology or heavy equipment repair.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B.
  • Experience with various brands of heavy equipment and material handling machinery.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
