Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Fencing Operative to join our team in Glasgow. This is an outdoor manual role that involves the installation, repair, and maintenance of various types of fencing across different sites. You will be responsible for preparing sites, handling materials, operating tools, and ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standards of safety and quality. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, are hands-on, and are committed to contributing to essential infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain various types of fencing, including timber, chain-link, palisade, and security fencing.
  • Prepare ground and foundations for fence installation, including digging post holes and clearing vegetation.
  • Load, unload, and transport fencing materials and equipment to and from job sites.
  • Operate a range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Work efficiently as part of a team to complete projects on time and to specification.
  • Conduct routine checks and maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Ensure the work area is kept clean and tidy.

Required Skills

  • Excellent physical fitness and stamina for manual labour and working outdoors.
  • Ability to work effectively in all weather conditions.
  • Basic understanding of common construction tools and equipment.
  • Strong work ethic and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to health and safety procedures.
  • Full UK driving license (preferred, but not essential for all roles).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in landscaping, construction, groundwork, or a similar manual role.
  • Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
  • Basic first aid certification.
  • Knowledge of different fencing materials and installation techniques.
  • Experience operating small plant machinery.
