Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Inpatient Pharmacy Aide to join our night shift team. This vital role supports our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in ensuring timely and accurate medication distribution within our hospital wards. The Inpatient Pharmacy Aide will primarily be responsible for tasks that facilitate efficient pharmacy operations during the night, directly contributing to patient safety and quality of care. Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with non-clinical tasks related to medication preparation and distribution.
- Deliver medications, controlled substances, and pharmaceutical supplies to various hospital wards and units.
- Perform inventory management, including stocking shelves, rotating stock, and identifying expired medications.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy work areas and storage rooms.
- Process incoming medication orders and assist with packaging and labeling medications under supervision.
- Utilize pharmacy automation systems and equipment accurately.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals regarding medication needs.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, safety regulations, and pharmacy protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives as directed.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift moderate weights for extended periods during night shifts.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to obtain relevant certifications (e.g., Pharmacy Technician Registration) if required by state law within a specified timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or pharmacy setting is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is desirable but not required for this aide position.
- Experience with hospital pharmacy systems and automation.
