Job Description
Are you passionate about the water and looking for an exciting entry into the marine industry? MarineMax in Virginia Beach is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Marina Support Hand to join our team. This outdoorsy role is perfect for someone who enjoys physical work, has a strong work ethic, and loves being around boats and the coastal environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our marina, providing essential support to our service department and delivering outstanding customer service to our valued clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with docking and undocking boats, including tying lines and securing vessels safely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the marina docks, common areas, and facilities.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on marina equipment and facilities, such as pressure washing, painting, and minor repairs.
- Assist service technicians with boat movement, cleaning, and preparation for service or delivery.
- Help with the fueling of boats and managing fuel dock operations.
- Provide friendly and helpful assistance to customers, answering basic questions and directing them as needed.
- Operate marina vehicles and equipment (e.g., golf carts, forklifts, small boats) as directed and trained.
- Support inventory management for marina supplies and equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Marina Manager or Lead Technician.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of boat handling and marina operations (or willingness to learn rapidly).
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a marina, boatyard, or similar outdoor/physical role.
- Familiarity with marine safety procedures.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Boating safety course certification.
