Job Description
Kaiser Permanente is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Mobile Vaccination Nurse to join our Community Outreach team in Santa Rosa, CA. This vital role involves traveling to various community sites, schools, businesses, and underserved areas to administer vaccinations, educate the public on vaccine benefits, and ensure safe and efficient clinic operations. You will play a crucial role in public health initiatives, helping to protect our community against preventable diseases and promoting wellness directly where it’s needed most. This position requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to community health and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer vaccines (e.g., flu, COVID-19, routine immunizations) according to Kaiser Permanente protocols and state guidelines.
- Travel to various mobile clinic sites throughout Santa Rosa and surrounding areas.
- Conduct pre-vaccination screenings and post-vaccination monitoring, including adverse event reporting.
- Educate patients and community members on vaccine information, potential side effects, and the importance of immunization.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and vaccination logs.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and inventory of vaccines and supplies.
- Adhere to strict infection control and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community partners to facilitate successful outreach events.
- Provide exceptional patient care and maintain a professional and empathetic demeanor.
Required Skills
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in an acute care, public health, or community setting.
- Strong phlebotomy and injection skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a mobile team.
- Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mobile clinic operations or community health outreach.
- Knowledge of immunization schedules and vaccine administration for all age groups.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience with pediatric immunizations.
