Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Parish Nurse to join our community and church outreach team in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This unique role combines professional nursing expertise with spiritual care, serving as a health educator, advocate, and resource facilitator within a church setting and its broader community. The Parish Nurse will work collaboratively with church leadership, volunteers, and Baptist Health resources to promote health and wholeness for individuals, families, and the congregation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide health education and counseling to individuals and groups on various health topics, including chronic disease management, nutrition, exercise, and mental well-being.
- Act as a health advocate, assisting congregants in navigating the healthcare system and accessing appropriate services.
- Offer basic health screenings and referrals, such as blood pressure checks and health risk assessments.
- Facilitate support groups and educational workshops on health-related issues.
- Collaborate with church staff to integrate health and wellness into existing church ministries and activities.
- Develop and implement health promotion programs tailored to the needs of the church and local community.
- Provide spiritual support and pastoral care, integrating faith and health principles.
- Maintain confidential health records and document all interactions and interventions.
- Connect individuals with Baptist Health services and other community resources as needed.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arkansas (or eligibility for licensure)
- Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated understanding and respect for faith-based care
- Proficiency in health education and patient counseling
- Basic computer literacy for record keeping and communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
- Experience in community health, public health, or home health
- Previous experience or training in parish nursing or faith community nursing
- Familiarity with the Fayetteville community and local health resources
- Bilingual skills (especially Spanish) are a plus
