Job Description
We are seeking meticulous and dedicated individuals to join our food production team as Pecan / Nut Shelling Operatives. This is a critical sit-down role responsible for the precise shelling, sorting, and inspection of pecans and other nuts, ensuring the highest standards of quality and food safety. The ideal candidate will possess excellent manual dexterity, keen eyesight, and a strong commitment to detail to identify and remove shell fragments and imperfections. This position is vital to our supply chain, contributing directly to the quality of ingredients used in a variety of food products.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual shelling and separation of pecan and nut kernels from their shells.
- Inspect shelled nuts for quality, identifying and removing any shell fragments, foreign materials, or defective kernels.
- Sort nuts by size, color, and grade according to established specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or quality issues to the supervisor.
- Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
Required Skills
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a repetitive sit-down role.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
