Job Description
Are you a professional truck driver who can’t imagine hitting the road without your best furry friend by your side? Werner Enterprises is offering an incredible opportunity for dedicated drivers to join our team in Jacksonville, FL, bringing their beloved pets along for the journey. We understand that your pet is family, and our pet-friendly trucking program is designed to make life on the road more enjoyable and less lonely for you. As a Pet Friendly Trucking Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods across designated routes, primarily OTR (Over-The-Road) or regional routes originating from our Jacksonville hub. This role requires adherence to all traffic laws, company policies, and DOT regulations, all while enjoying the company of your approved pet. You’ll operate modern, well-maintained equipment and become an integral part of our logistics network, ensuring timely deliveries and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial motor vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all DOT regulations and company policies.
- Transport goods across various routes, including long-haul and regional assignments.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Manage electronic logs (ELDs) accurately and in compliance with regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Ensure timely pick-up and delivery of freight.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper care of company equipment, including accommodating your pet comfortably and responsibly.
- Handle cargo securely and responsibly.
- Represent Werner Enterprises professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Minimum of 6 months verifiable OTR or regional truck driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Proficiency in using ELD systems and other trucking technology.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all regulations.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet delivery schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of verifiable OTR or regional truck driving experience.
- Experience with refrigerated or specialized freight.
- Familiarity with various routes across the US.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- A passion for driving and a love for animals.
