Job Description
Join Knight-Swift Transportation as a Regional Flatbed Driver, where you’ll be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting a variety of materials, including construction equipment, building materials, and industrial components. This role involves operating state-of-the-art flatbed equipment across a designated regional area, ensuring timely deliveries, and adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle with flatbed trailer across regional routes.
- Secure loads using appropriate tie-downs, chains, binders, and tarps according to company and DOT standards.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle and equipment, documenting any issues.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELDs) and delivery documentation.
- Ensure timely and secure delivery of freight, demonstrating professionalism at all times.
- Manage and maintain equipment in a clean and operational condition.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A)
- Minimum of 1 year verifiable Class A driving experience
- Proven experience with flatbed load securement and tarping techniques
- Clean driving record (MVR)
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends as required by regional routes
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of dedicated flatbed driving experience
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs)
- Hazmat endorsement
