Job Description

Akerman LLP is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Remote Legal Researcher for a 1099 contract position. This role is ideal for current law students or recent graduates looking to gain practical experience in legal research and writing. You will support our legal teams by conducting comprehensive research on various legal topics, analyzing statutes, case law, and regulations, and assisting in the preparation of legal documents. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and an excellent opportunity to enhance your legal skills while contributing to real-world legal projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth legal research using online databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and other resources.
  • Analyze statutes, regulations, case law, and legal articles relevant to ongoing cases and projects.
  • Summarize research findings clearly and concisely for attorneys.
  • Assist in drafting legal memoranda, briefs, and other documents based on research.
  • Verify the accuracy and currency of legal citations and authority.
  • Organize and maintain research materials and documentation.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to understand research needs and objectives.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in legal research methodologies and resources (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
