Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Remote Student Content Editor with a strong writing focus to join our dynamic team. This part-time role is perfect for current university students or recent graduates looking to gain valuable experience in content creation and editorial processes within an innovative online education environment. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and engagement of our course materials, contributing directly to the learning experience of millions worldwide. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere within the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and edit educational content, including course lectures, readings, quizzes, and assignments, for clarity, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ensure content adheres to Coursera's style guides, brand voice, and accessibility standards.
- Fact-check information and verify accuracy of sources used in course materials.
- Provide constructive feedback to content creators and subject matter experts to improve overall content quality.
- Collaborate with instructional designers, videographers, and other team members to enhance the learning experience.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of editorial guidelines and best practices.
- Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skills
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, syntax, and punctuation.
- Proven writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to adapt writing style and tone to suit different audiences and content types.
- Proficiency with common word processing software (e.g., Google Docs, Microsoft Word).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor's degree program in English, Journalism, Communications, Education, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in content editing, proofreading, or technical writing, even through academic projects or internships.
- Familiarity with style guides such as Chicago Manual of Style or AP Style.
- Experience with online learning platforms or learning management systems (LMS).
- Basic understanding of SEO principles for content optimization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative remote team.
