Job Description

As a Safety Evaluator for AI Bots with an Ethics & Filters focus at Google, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the ethical development and deployment of our AI-powered products. You will be responsible for meticulously evaluating AI model outputs, identifying potential biases, harmful content, and unethical behavior. Your work will directly contribute to refining our safety filters and guidelines, making AI interactions safer and more reliable for users globally. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong ethical judgment, and a passion for responsible technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate AI model responses and interactions to identify instances of unethical behavior, bias, toxicity, or misinformation.
  • Categorize and annotate data to train and improve AI safety filters and detection mechanisms.
  • Develop and refine safety guidelines and best practices for AI bot interactions.
  • Collaborate closely with AI researchers, engineers, and policy teams to provide actionable insights for model improvements.
  • Stay informed about emerging ethical considerations and societal impacts of AI.
  • Participate in regular calibration sessions to ensure consistent evaluation standards.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify subtle nuances in AI behavior.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • High ethical standards and sound judgment, with a deep understanding of ethical principles.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Basic familiarity with artificial intelligence or machine learning concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Ethics, Philosophy, Linguistics, Social Sciences, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in content moderation, data annotation, quality assurance, or similar roles.
  • Familiarity with various AI model types and their potential failure modes.
  • Fluency in French is an asset, given the Montreal location.
  • Demonstrated interest in AI ethics and responsible technology development.
