Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stratigraphy Analyst with a strong focus on the energy sector to join our dynamic team in Tampa, Florida. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in geological data interpretation, basin analysis, and reservoir characterization, contributing directly to our exploration and production initiatives. This role involves leveraging advanced stratigraphic concepts and cutting-edge software to identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon reserves, optimize drilling strategies, and inform critical investment decisions. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed stratigraphic analysis of subsurface data, including seismic, well logs, and core samples, to build robust geological models.
- Interpret depositional environments, sequence stratigraphy, and structural geology to define play concepts and prospectivity.
- Utilize advanced geological software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom, DecisionSpace) for data integration, visualization, and modeling.
- Collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams to ensure integrated understanding of subsurface conditions.
- Prepare comprehensive geological reports, maps, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to project stakeholders and management.
- Participate in regional basin studies and frontier exploration projects, identifying new opportunities and reducing geological risk.
- Mentor junior geoscientists and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and best practices.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and research in stratigraphy and sedimentology.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in stratigraphic analysis within the oil and gas industry.
- Proficiency in geological interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom, DecisionSpace).
- Strong understanding of sequence stratigraphy, depositional systems, and basin analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate diverse geological and geophysical datasets.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities for technical reporting and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant geological discipline.
- Experience with unconventional resource plays and frontier exploration.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python for data analysis and automation.
- Familiarity with geological uncertainties and risk assessment methodologies.
- Professional certification (e.g., AAPG Certified Petroleum Geologist).
