Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled AI Infrastructure Support Analyst with a strong networking focus to join our dynamic team in Boulder. In this high-impact role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of Google’s cutting-edge AI infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on network architecture and connectivity for machine learning clusters. You will troubleshoot complex issues, implement robust solutions, and collaborate with engineering teams to optimize our global AI platforms. This is a critical position for someone passionate about advanced networking, AI technologies, and contributing to a high-performance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level support for AI infrastructure, diagnosing and resolving complex networking issues impacting large-scale machine learning workloads.
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize network performance within AI clusters, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions to enhance data transfer efficiency.
- Collaborate with AI researchers and engineers to understand their networking requirements and provide tailored support for their experimental and production environments.
- Design, implement, and maintain network configurations for new and existing AI hardware, ensuring high availability and redundancy.
- Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline network operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting tasks.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical AI infrastructure incidents.
- Document network architectures, troubleshooting procedures, and best practices to ensure knowledge transfer and operational consistency.
- Work closely with security teams to ensure network compliance and implement best practices for data integrity and protection.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in network administration or support roles within large-scale, complex environments.
- Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and deep understanding of network architectures.
- Extensive experience with Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
- Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and data analysis.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and their networking implications.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex network issues across multiple layers of the OSI model.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIP, Google Cloud Network Engineer).
- Experience with InfiniBand or other high-performance networking technologies.
- Basic understanding of machine learning concepts, frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), and GPU architectures.
- Experience working with network monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).
- Prior experience in a global enterprise environment or with distributed systems.
- Experience with network virtualization and software-defined networking (SDN).
