Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Technical Shopify Consultant to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role bridges the gap between our clients’ business objectives and the technical capabilities of the Shopify platform. You will be responsible for understanding client needs, translating them into technical requirements, and guiding the development team in implementing bespoke Shopify solutions. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in Shopify development, strong analytical skills, and exceptional client communication. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for Shopify clients, understanding their business goals and challenges.
- Translate client requirements and user stories into detailed technical specifications for the development team.
- Conduct technical discovery sessions, platform audits, and solution architecture design for new and existing Shopify stores.
- Provide expert guidance on Shopify platform capabilities, limitations, and best practices, including Shopify Plus features.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, designers, and developers throughout the project lifecycle to ensure successful delivery.
- Oversee the implementation of custom Shopify themes, apps, and integrations, ensuring high quality and performance.
- Perform technical reviews and quality assurance to ensure solutions meet client expectations and industry standards.
- Stay current with Shopify updates, new features, and the broader e-commerce technology landscape.
- Assist in pre-sales activities, including technical demonstrations, scoping, and estimation for potential projects.
- Mentor junior developers and share knowledge within the team.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Shopify development (Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Proven experience as a technical consultant or solution architect in an e-commerce agency setting.
- Strong understanding of Shopify's API, theme architecture, and app ecosystem.
- Experience with front-end development frameworks and tools (e.g., React, Vue.js, Webpack) is a strong asset.
- Proficiency in version control systems, particularly Git.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong client-facing skills, including presentation and negotiation.
- A deep understanding of e-commerce best practices, UX/UI principles, and conversion optimization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Shopify Plus experience and certifications.
- Experience with headless commerce architectures and technologies (e.g., Hydrogen, Next.js).
- Knowledge of other e-commerce platforms (e.g., Magento, BigCommerce).
- Familiarity with marketing automation tools, ERPs, and PIM systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
