Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Clerk with a strong finance focus to join our team in Shawnee, Oklahoma. This stable role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely compensation for our employees, particularly those involved in our refinery operations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality. Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant federal and state regulations.
  • Verify and input employee timekeeping data, deductions, and earnings adjustments.
  • Administer new hire paperwork, terminations, and changes to employee data within the payroll system.
  • Reconcile payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and respond to employee inquiries regarding paychecks.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management and finance departments.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end payroll closing activities, including tax filings (W-2s) and audits.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all payroll and employee information.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for payroll processes and systems.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Clerk or in a similar financial administrative role (minimum 2 years).
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, labor laws, and tax regulations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with payroll processing in the oil & gas, manufacturing, or refinery sector.
  • Knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems like SAP for payroll modules.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus.
