Job Description
Are you an enthusiastic individual with a passion for the outdoors and a talent for connecting with people? Grand Teton Lodge Company is seeking a lively and reliable Dive Boat Helper for our summer season. This role is perfect for someone looking for a dynamic temporary position with significant social interaction, supporting our water-based activities on Jackson Lake. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our guests have a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience, from preparing the boat to assisting with guest needs and maintaining equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and interact warmly with all guests, providing information and assistance as needed.
- Assist the Boat Captain with pre-departure checks, securing equipment, and general boat preparation.
- Help guests with boarding and disembarking, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Handle and organize dive/snorkeling gear, life vests, and other water activity equipment.
- Monitor guest activities on and around the boat, maintaining a vigilant watch for safety.
- Provide basic assistance during water activities, such as retrieving items or offering support to swimmers.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the boat throughout the day and assist with end-of-day cleaning tasks.
- Assist with minor boat maintenance and report any issues to the Captain.
- Participate in safety briefings and emergency drills.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all guests and team members.
Required Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; a genuine enjoyment of social interaction.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
- Basic swimming proficiency and comfort in and around water.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a full summer season schedule.
- Physical stamina to lift and carry equipment, and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, or outdoor recreation.
- Basic knowledge of boating safety and equipment.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- PADI Open Water Diver or similar certification (even if for freshwater diving).
- Local knowledge of Grand Teton National Park and surrounding areas.
