Job Description

REI is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Outdoor Adventure Helper to join our Santa Rosa team. This role is perfect for individuals who thrive in an active environment, enjoy hands-on work, and are eager to support various outdoor programs and retail operations. You’ll be instrumental in preparing for events, assisting customers, maintaining equipment, and ensuring every adventurer has a positive and safe experience. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of outdoor adventure programs, workshops, and events.
- Provide enthusiastic support and guidance to customers, helping them select appropriate gear and understand outdoor activities.
- Organize, clean, and maintain rental equipment (e.g., bikes, kayaks, camping gear) ensuring it is in excellent condition.
- Support inventory management and merchandising of outdoor products within the retail space.
- Engage with customers to share knowledge and passion for various outdoor pursuits.
- Facilitate a welcoming and safe environment for all participants in outdoor activities.
- Assist with basic administrative tasks related to program registration and equipment reservations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation of daily activities and events.
Required Skills
- High level of energy and enthusiasm for outdoor activities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform duties in various weather conditions.
- A genuine passion for the outdoors and helping others explore it.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, or outdoor recreation.
- Knowledge of various outdoor sports and activities (e.g., hiking, camping, cycling, paddling).
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Experience with inventory systems or point-of-sale software.
