Job Description
Join School of Rock San Jose as a Guitar Instructor for our beginner students! We are looking for passionate and patient musicians who can inspire new learners to discover the joy of playing guitar. This role focuses on foundational skills, basic theory, and helping students prepare for their first stage experiences. You’ll be part of a vibrant team dedicated to making music education engaging and accessible. We offer weekly pay and a supportive environment for both instructors and students.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective one-on-one guitar lessons to beginner students.
- Teach fundamental guitar techniques, basic music theory, and rhythm.
- Develop customized lesson plans tailored to individual student needs and learning styles.
- Prepare students for group rehearsals and live performance opportunities.
- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to foster student progress and confidence.
- Maintain a positive and motivating learning environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress.
- Participate in instructor meetings and professional development sessions as required.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in playing acoustic and electric guitar.
- Strong understanding of foundational music theory and guitar techniques.
- Ability to teach beginner-level students of various ages (typically 6-18).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for music education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience teaching guitar to beginners.
- Experience working with children and teenagers.
- Basic knowledge of other instruments or music production.
- Degree or certification in music education or performance.
- Ability to improvise and adapt teaching methods on the fly.
