Job Description
Join the dedicated team at Lawrence Transit as a City Transit Bus Driver and play a crucial role in connecting our community. We are seeking professional, safety-conscious individuals to operate transit buses on various routes throughout Lawrence, Kansas. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate transit buses on scheduled routes and timetables.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company safety policies.
- Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including those with disabilities.
- Collect fares and issue transfers accurately.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, dispatch, and supervisors.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles.
- Report any mechanical issues, accidents, or incidents promptly.
- Maintain a clean and comfortable environment for passengers.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all riders.
Required Skills
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement and Air Brake restriction removed (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
- Clean driving record for the past three years.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating transit buses or other large passenger vehicles.
- Familiarity with Lawrence city streets and public transit routes.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
