Job Description
As an Orthodontic Aide with a Specialist Health focus, you will be an essential part of our clinical team, supporting our orthodontists and ensuring smooth daily operations. This role requires a meticulous individual with a passion for patient care, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a sterile and efficient clinical environment. You will assist in a variety of orthodontic procedures, prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and provide patient education, all while upholding the highest standards of health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during patient examinations and treatment procedures, including bonding, debonding, and adjustments.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Set up and breakdown treatment rooms efficiently.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as instructed.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update charts.
- Manage inventory of dental supplies and place orders as needed.
- Ensure patient comfort and provide compassionate support throughout their visit.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
- Adhere to all clinic policies and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification
- X-ray certification
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a dental or orthodontic setting
- Proficiency in dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Open Dental)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of infection control procedures and OSHA regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically in orthodontics
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- CPR certification
- Experience with digital scanning and imaging technologies
