Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pain Management Nurse to join our clinical team in Thornton, Colorado. This role focuses on providing specialized nursing care to patients experiencing acute and chronic pain. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized pain management plans, utilizing a variety of therapeutic interventions. This is a stable Monday-Friday position, offering a consistent schedule for optimal work-life balance. You will play a crucial role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pain assessments, including pain history, physical examination, and functional assessment.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized pain management plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Administer medications and perform procedures as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Educate patients and families on pain management techniques, medication side effects, and self-care strategies.
- Monitor and document patient responses to pain interventions, adjusting care plans as needed.
- Provide empathetic support and counseling to patients dealing with chronic pain and its impact on daily life.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education relevant to pain management.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) with relevant experience considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in pain management, acute care, or a related specialty.
- Demonstrated knowledge of various pain assessment tools and pain management modalities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Pain Management Nurse (CPMN) certification.
- Experience with interventional pain procedures.
- Prior experience in a specialized pain clinic or chronic pain program.
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or related field.
