Job Description
Are you passionate about plants and eager to help maintain the lush greenery of our local neighborhoods? BrightView Landscape Services is seeking a meticulous and reliable Plant Watering Assistant to join our team in Downtown Jersey City. This part-time role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a keen eye for plant health, and takes pride in contributing to the aesthetic appeal of community spaces, residential buildings, and commercial properties. You will be responsible for ensuring our diverse plant life receives optimal hydration, contributing directly to their vitality and beauty.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily watering schedules for various plant types, including indoor and outdoor plants, flower beds, and container gardens.
- Monitor soil moisture levels and adjust watering frequency and volume as needed to prevent over or under-watering.
- Identify signs of plant distress, pests, or diseases related to hydration and report findings to the supervisor.
- Ensure efficient use of water resources and adherence to all watering guidelines and safety protocols.
- Assist with basic plant care tasks such as light pruning, cleaning leaves, and checking for general plant health.
- Maintain watering equipment in good working condition and report any malfunctions.
- Communicate effectively with team members and property managers regarding watering needs and schedules.
- Adhere to company policies and safety standards at all times.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and watering schedules.
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks, including lifting watering cans and standing/walking for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Basic understanding of plant care or willingness to learn quickly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in gardening, landscaping, or plant care.
- Familiarity with different plant species and their watering requirements.
- Strong observational skills for detecting plant health issues.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (for moving between sites within Downtown Jersey City).
