Job Description
We are seeking a highly vigilant and experienced Loss Prevention Specialist to join our team in a high-security retail environment in New Port Richey, FL. This role is crucial for protecting company assets, preventing theft, and ensuring compliance with all security policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, strong investigative skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and challenging setting. You will be responsible for identifying and mitigating risks, conducting investigations, and maintaining a secure environment through proactive measures and swift response.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct surveillance and observation using CCTV and other security equipment to identify potential loss indicators.
- Investigate incidents of theft, fraud, and other security breaches, gathering evidence and preparing detailed reports.
- Apprehend and process individuals involved in dishonest activities in accordance with company policy and legal guidelines.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement as needed to prosecute individuals and recover assets.
- Implement and enforce company loss prevention policies and procedures.
- Educate team members on security awareness and best practices to prevent loss.
- Monitor inventory control measures and assist in identifying areas of high shrinkage.
- Respond to alarms and other security alerts promptly and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of all incidents, investigations, and security activities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in loss prevention or security, preferably in a retail or high-security setting.
- Strong observational and analytical skills with an ability to identify suspicious behavior.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with diverse individuals.
- Proficiency in report writing and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of CCTV systems and other security technologies.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and respond quickly to situations for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.
- Loss Prevention Certified (LPC) or equivalent certification.
- Experience with interview and interrogation techniques (e.g., Wicklander-Zulawski).
- Familiarity with local laws and regulations pertaining to theft and apprehension.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
