Job Description

We are seeking a highly creative and skilled Automotive Design Engineer to join our innovative team in Tampa, Florida. This role is pivotal in shaping the future aesthetic and functional design of our next-generation vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for automotive design, exceptional technical skills, and a collaborative spirit. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and refining design solutions from initial sketches to production-ready surfaces, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and engineering feasibility. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative automotive design concepts, including exterior, interior, and component designs, using a variety of tools from sketching to 3D CAD.
  • Translate design visions into detailed technical specifications and production-ready CAD models (e.g., using CATIA, SolidWorks, or Alias).
  • Collaborate closely with styling, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing teams to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the development process while meeting all technical, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and generate design proposals that balance aesthetics, ergonomics, cost, and performance.
  • Participate in design reviews, present concepts, and incorporate feedback from various stakeholders.
  • Select and specify appropriate materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes for design components.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive products to inform future design strategies.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Automotive Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in automotive design or product development.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Alias AutoStudio) and rendering tools (e.g., V-Ray, Keyshot).
  • Strong understanding of automotive design principles, aesthetics, and ergonomics.
  • Demonstrated ability to move from concept ideation to detailed design execution.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Portfolio showcasing strong design sensibility, technical proficiency, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Automotive Design or a related field.
  • Experience with Class-A surfacing techniques.
  • Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes and material properties.
  • Project management experience within a design or engineering team.
