Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) to join our dynamic team for a night shift position. This hospital-based role involves managing the care of acutely ill adult patients across various specialties, including medical, surgical, and critical care units. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive assessments, diagnose and treat complex conditions, and collaborate closely with attending physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes during the evening and overnight hours. This position offers a competitive night shift differential.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations for acutely ill patients.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory and imaging studies.
- Formulate and implement evidence-based treatment plans for acute and chronic conditions.
- Prescribe medications and other therapies in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Perform medical procedures relevant to the scope of practice and patient needs.
- Monitor patient progress, evaluate effectiveness of interventions, and modify care plans as necessary.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding their condition and treatment.
- Participate in daily rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education programs.
- Respond to emergencies and provide immediate care as required during night shifts.
Required Skills
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the State of Florida.
- Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
- Master's or Doctor of Nursing Practice (MSN/DNP) degree from an accredited program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team during night hours.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in an inpatient hospital setting.
- Experience in specific acute care specialties (e.g., cardiology, pulmonology, emergency medicine).
- Proficiency in performing minor procedures (e.g., central line insertion, intubation assistance).
- Membership in professional organizations (e.g., American Association of Nurse Practitioners).
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
