Job Description
Are you looking for an active outdoor role this season? Kirkstall Valley Orchard is seeking enthusiastic and diligent Apple Pickers to join our team for the upcoming harvest. This is a seasonal position offering a fantastic opportunity to work outdoors, contribute to our harvest, and earn a piece-rate bonus based on your productivity. No prior experience is necessary – we provide full training. If you enjoy physical work, have a keen eye for detail, and are ready to work hard in a supportive environment, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully pick apples from trees according to quality standards and specific instructions.
- Sort and pack picked apples into crates, ensuring minimal bruising or damage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area within the orchard.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines and picking protocols.
- Work efficiently and productively to contribute to the overall harvest goals.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding progress and any issues.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (sun, rain, cold).
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in agricultural work or fruit picking is a plus, but not required.
- Access to reliable transportation to and from the orchard.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently to maximize piece-rate earnings.
