Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) Tech to join our hospital systems team in Nashville, TN. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational support of automated dispensing cabinets and other related pharmacy automation systems across our network of facilities. Your expertise will ensure the seamless and efficient flow of medications, contributing directly to patient safety and operational excellence. This position requires a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and calibration on automated dispensing machines (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell) to ensure optimal functionality and compliance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to ADMs, including hardware, software, and connectivity problems, in a timely manner.
- Configure and install new ADM units, including network connections and integration with hospital information systems.
- Provide technical support and training to pharmacy staff, nurses, and other end-users on ADM operation and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory changes within the ADM systems.
- Collaborate with IT, Pharmacy, and other departments to implement system upgrades, patches, and security measures.
- Monitor ADM performance, identify potential issues, and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure all ADM operations comply with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in IT support, biomedical equipment repair, or pharmacy automation support, preferably within a hospital setting.
- Strong understanding of automated dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell) functionality and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in basic networking concepts and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi).
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems and common office software.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and move equipment as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certification in CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar IT certifications.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems integration (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
- Knowledge of pharmacy workflow and medication management processes.
