Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bankruptcy Law Office Assistant to join our team in Stratford, PEI. This crucial role involves a blend of administrative support, meticulous data entry, and direct client communication within our bankruptcy and insolvency practice group. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining accurate records, preparing legal documents, and ensuring our clients receive compassionate and efficient service during sensitive times. You will be instrumental in the smooth operation of our office, contributing to a positive experience for both our team and our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and timely data entry of client information, case details, and financial data into legal management systems.
- Draft and prepare various legal documents, correspondence, and forms related to bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings.
- Communicate directly with clients, creditors, and trustees via phone, email, and in-person, providing updates and gathering necessary information.
- Maintain organized physical and electronic client files, ensuring confidentiality and easy retrieval.
- Schedule appointments, manage calendars, and coordinate meetings for legal professionals.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail and faxes, distributing them appropriately.
- Assist with billing, expense tracking, and other administrative tasks as required.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal procedures and office policies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent data entry speed and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a legal or professional office environment.

- Familiarity with legal practice management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase).
- Post-secondary education in office administration, legal administration, or a related field.
