Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Biotech Laboratory Specialist with a strong focus on genetic research to join our cutting-edge R&D team in Boulder, CO. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advancing our understanding of genetic mechanisms underlying various diseases and contribute to the development of novel therapeutic strategies. This position requires exceptional technical proficiency in molecular biology techniques, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to scientific excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex molecular biology experiments, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, cloning, and gene editing techniques (CRISPR-Cas9).
  • Execute next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation and operate sequencing platforms.
  • Conduct cell culture maintenance, transfection, and cellular assays relevant to genetic research.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, troubleshoot technical issues, and suggest solutions.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records, ensuring data integrity and reproducibility.
  • Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment, performing calibrations and routine maintenance.
  • Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practices (GLP).
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and researchers.
  • Present findings internally and contribute to scientific reports and publications.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant laboratory experience, OR Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with advanced molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and cloning.
  • Demonstrated expertise in gene editing technologies (e.g., CRISPR-Cas9).
  • Proficiency in cell culture techniques, including aseptic technique and maintenance of various cell lines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex genetic data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools for genetic data analysis.
  • Prior experience in an industry biotech or pharmaceutical setting.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis software relevant to biological data.
