Job Description

PCL Construction is seeking a reliable and hardworking Casual General Hand to join our team in Calgary. This is an immediate opening for a temporary position, working Monday-Friday. As a General Hand, you will play a crucial role in maintaining site cleanliness, assisting skilled trades, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily construction activities. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in the construction industry with a reputable company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general site clean-up and maintain a tidy work environment.
  • Assist skilled tradespersons (carpenters, electricians, laborers) as directed.
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials and equipment.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Support site logistics, including setting up and tearing down temporary facilities.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company policies rigorously.
  • Perform other general duties as assigned by the site supervisor.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy objects.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a construction or manual labor role.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) certification.
  • First Aid certification.
