Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Central Fill Pharmacy Technician to join our high-volume production team in Long Beach, CA. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in the rapid and precise processing of prescriptions in our state-of-the-art central fill facility. Your focus will be on maintaining high productivity standards, ensuring accuracy in dispensing, and contributing to a seamless workflow that ultimately delivers essential medications to patients efficiently. This is an on-site position where your contribution directly impacts patient health outcomes through meticulous work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately and efficiently fill prescriptions using automated dispensing systems and manual methods in a high-volume environment.
- Operate and maintain pharmacy automation equipment, including troubleshooting minor issues and performing routine calibration.
- Perform quality control checks on filled prescriptions to ensure accuracy of drug, dosage, and labeling.
- Receive, organize, and store pharmacy inventory, including checking for expiration dates and proper storage conditions.
- Prepare medications for shipment, ensuring proper packaging and documentation.
- Adhere strictly to all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other technicians to optimize workflow and resolve operational issues.
Required Skills
- Active Pharmacy Technician license/certification in California (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a high-volume retail or central fill setting.
- Proficiency in operating pharmacy automation and dispensing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific pharmacy management software (e.g., EPIC, Cerner).
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles in a production environment.
- Previous experience in a central fill or mail-order pharmacy setting.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT).
