Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Clinical Pharmacy Assistant to join our professional team. In this vital role, you will work closely with our pharmacists and healthcare providers to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical care to our patients. This position is integral to supporting the clinical operations of our pharmacy department, contributing directly to patient outcomes through accurate medication handling, inventory management, and administrative support. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced hospital environment and demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile and non-sterile compounding.
  • Maintain accurate medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating supplies.
  • Perform medication reconciliation support activities under pharmacist supervision.
  • Process medication orders and prescriptions using the pharmacy information system.
  • Answer phones and assist healthcare professionals with medication-related inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Assist with patient education materials preparation and distribution.
  • Support the professional development and training of new team members.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Washington State Pharmacy Assistant certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical calculations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with sterile compounding techniques and equipment.
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
