Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Community Centre Assistant to join our team, specifically focusing on supporting public sector employees with inquiries related to benefits and pension plans. This pivotal role ensures that our community members receive accurate and timely information, guiding them through complex processes with empathy and expertise. The successful candidate will act as a primary point of contact, providing administrative support, maintaining records, and ensuring a welcoming environment at the community centre. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for public sector employees seeking information or assistance regarding their benefits and pension plans.
  • Provide clear, concise, and accurate information on various public sector benefits (e.g., health, dental, life insurance) and pension program details.
  • Assist individuals with completing application forms, understanding eligibility criteria, and navigating relevant online portals.
  • Escalate complex inquiries or specific cases to benefits specialists or human resources personnel as needed, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of all personal and sensitive information in accordance with privacy regulations.
  • Manage appointment schedules, maintain organized records, and prepare relevant documentation.
  • Support general administrative tasks within the community centre, contributing to its smooth daily operation.
  • Foster a welcoming and professional atmosphere for all visitors and callers.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to stay updated on changes in public sector benefits and pension policies.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer service, administrative, or public-facing role.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly and patiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer literacy.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working within the public sector or a community-based organization.
  • Familiarity with public sector benefit and/or pension plan structures and terminology.
  • Experience using customer relationship management (CRM) software or similar database systems.
